Busier & Busier…

I seem to be moving 500mph lately! I can’t hardly keep up with myself.

I’ve been doing some very cool stuff, though. Learning a lot, experimenting with blogging strategies, digging for treasure (!), joining & building communities… Amazing things!

Blogging

Video Star. I signed up with Spreecast through a Klout perk (despite my score taking a suicidal plunge over the last couple weeks… yikes!). The platform seems very interesting, and I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve wished for a multi-user, livestreaming, video broadcasting service! It’s pretty unattractive, aesthetically, but the functionality seems to be there, so here’s hoping a makeover is in their near future!

Editorial Calendars. They are your master, God, and ecosystem. Abide!

Tumblr. I’ve started to revamp the sites’ Tumblr starting with Broke & Beautiful, our budget fashion blog. We created a budget fashion tumblr called “Live Broke & Beautiful!” which has a tiny double meaning, and a tiny independent brand from the main blog. I’m experimenting! I’m curious as to whether or not an “accompaniment” Tumblr blog (one that is meant to promote and compliment your main blog) is more effective with connecting with audiences if it has a) slightly different branding and b) the ability to follow back its followers (as opposed to being a secondary blog/shared blog). I’m also trying to figure out the most effective way to tag Tumblr posts, and which tags are checked more frequently than others.

You Have A Camera! I have the hardest time posting my photos to this life stream! I always forget. It doesn’t help that my Virgin Mobile Samsung phone is about as reliable as a empty toilet paper roll. I must do better!

Policies. After a string of unbelievably horrible events in terms of monetization, partnerships and collaborations in blogging, we’re revisiting and revising our policies when it comes do working with brands and agencies. I’d really love to open a dialogue on the topic! Perhaps on Google+?

Design

Dieline. This is definitely my new favorite blog. I love their student features, and packaging! An endless source of design inspiration.

Adventures

Island Time. I’m currently on an adventure, actually! I’ve come up to the islands off the northwest coast of Washington to decompress from an unbelievably stressful couple of weeks, and I’ll be here for 9 days!

Junkers. My mom is what I call a “flipper.” She hunts down amazing, sometimes-antiques (everything from furniture to wine glasses), cleans them up, and resells them in her store, just north of Seattle. Recently, she told me that I was her good luck charm when it came to foragine through old “junk,” so we’ve been on a few adventures together! Her latest & greatest find was an old, leather-handled trunk from 1890 with all of the original interiors – gorgeous! It’s kind of addicting, this stuff…
